Keeping On Keeping On

I forgot to take my allergy meds yesterday and woke up with a headache this morning. Shelley & Keenan are sleeping in. Shelley has decided that going back to work after two weeks is probably not going to work. She has decided to wait until after Labor Day. Keenan continues to eat, pee and poop. She cries when she is hungry, fusses when she is uncomfortable, enjoys being outside, looks at people and things that capture her interest, stretches and rolls from side to side.

Good Times at Olsonland

DSC02665
Wow, this afternoon seemed almost like a normal day at Olsonland. Granted there were some changes, but somethings were back to normal. This morning I got Keenan around 6:00. Shelley and Dave stayed in bed. I fixed blueberry muffins for breakfast and Shelley and I ate them while she feed Keenan around 9:00. Shelley headed back to bed. Keenan and I hung out. Shelley and Dave finally got up around noon. Lunch was leftover pot roast. We are sure not suffering from a lack of food. The refrigerator is overflowing with stuff people have brought by. Settling In

Keenan has been in the world for a week and Shelley, the dog lover, still calls her crib her crate…. Keenan doesn’t seem to mind, but I think it might be confusing to Jazz who is very possessive of her crate. Jazz likes Keenan, but I do not think she would want her sleeping in her crate. Reality Check

We are still laughing about the baby care info Shelley was given at the hospital. Its a good thing the info was something we could all laugh about because Shelley nor Dave are laughing about much else these days. Keenan is a very good baby during the day, but turns into monster baby at night. This means Shelley nor Dave are sleeping. Both being work-a-holics struggle with the thought of sleeping during the day. Read More...

Different Worlds

Thursday afternoon/evening and Friday morning were typical days in the hospital…. bad food, nurses and doctors in and out of the room every few minutes day and night, noise in the halls - just ordinary hospital routines.

Delivery Time

At 5:00 AM, the doctors decided that Shelley should try pushing. Shelley would push and vomit; the baby would move and Shelley would vomit; Shelley would move and vomit; someone would come into the room and Shelley would vomit. Dave and I each held the puke bucket with one hand and supported Shelley in an upright position with the other. The fumes from the bucket were overwhelming yet we both stood there over and over and over again holding the bucket for Shelley. Read More...

Fight or Flight

I got a call from Shelley (daughter) at 4:00 AM. She thought she was in labor. Based on what she told me, I thought the same. I got online and changed my airline ticket (thanks to Southwest Airlines for not charging fees to make changes). then emailed the flight info to Shelley. By 6:00 AM I was on a plane heading from Boise, ID to Raleigh, NC. Once in the air, I asked one of the cabin stewards if someone could check my ticket and see if there was another flight that would get me to Raleigh before my 5:05 scheduled landing. Someone would check for me when we landed in Denver. Read More...

Why is the Sheriff's Department Looking for Me?

Some days just do not go according to plan. I got up, showered, ate breakfast and headed to Ann Morrison Park where I had volunteered to work at a festival. There were lots of volunteers and lots of work to be done before the festival opened at 11:00. I was working and meeting new people when I got a phone call from the manager of REI. He introduced himself and then said “I don’t mean to alarm you but………” Read More...
