On the Road - Day 1

IMG_1041
I woke up at 6:00 this morning and was very quite until 8:15 when I woke up Mary. I did not sleep much last night because I was excited. After Mary drank her coffee, showered, brushed her teeth and who knows what else she finally announced that she was ready to load the boats, bikes, and skybox.

Goodbye to North Carolina

Pasted Graphic
Wow!! We have been in North Carolina for over a year - we spent about five and a half months in Creedmoor, a month on vacation in Glacier National Park, and the remainder of the time at our house in Fairview. When we left Boise in February 2012, we planned to return to Boise that summer. Sometimes things just don’t happen as planned. Read More...

All Our Bags are Packed

After going to Mary Frances’ for breakfast, I spent today doing last minute packing (mainly food), cleaning vehicles, and cleaning the house. Mary worked her last day at the Asheville REI. Except for loading bikes, boats, and a few other things we are ready to go. Our goal is to be out of town by early afternoon tomorrow. If I were going by myself, I would be out of town by sun up, but that is not going to happen. Read More...

New Look

Our blog and website have a new look, hope you like it. I think it is a little clearer looking. There is a new page called Where’s Moxie. If I can figure out how to make it work, I plan to update the page with Moxie’s new location each day we are traveling. Read More...

One Week From Today

One week from today we will be on the road. We had hoped for nice weather this week so we would be warm and dry loading bikes and boats onto the car and truck, packing the final things into the RV, checking tires and adding air as needed, etc. but it doesn’t look as if that is going to happen. This morning the weather man said it is going to be twenty degrees below normal. Read More...

Weekend in Creedmoor

DSC09844
We spent a long weekend with Shelley, Dave, Keenan and the grand dogs. Keenan is a very active, very entertaining little girl. She has potty trained herself even though she will not be two years old until mid-August. She has also learned that “pee-pee” is a great way to control all the adults in her life. If “pee-pee” doesn’t get an instant response “poo-poo” will. Read More...

Rest in Peace, Shadow

DSC09431
Of all the dogs I have owned and known, Shadow was the best. As a puppy, Shadow was a beast. She was determined to be the boss of the household. After what seemed like months, she stopped biting us and decided that she would settle for the position of top dog and would assume responsibility for taking care of us. Read More...

Fun with Taylor & Family

DSC09531
Taylor is so smart and so much fun. We relish every moment we get to spend with her (and her parents). We never get to spend as much time as we would like with her - we would take her home with us and keep her forever if we didn’t think Kyle and Katie would come after us.

Tragedy

A woman I worked with at Edneyville Elementary School and at Henderson County Public Schools central office was killed yesterday in a bizarre accident. A tree fell on the car she was driving. After being hit by the falling tree, the car ran off the road into a field. The hood and the driver’s compartment was all that was damaged. Anita was dead when the first responders arrived on the scene. The news is reporting that she was killed instantly. Read More...

Two Weeks

DSC09511
My list is getting shorter and the RV is looking great. Those are helmets hanging on the wall - great wall art - don’t you agree???? Mary plans to start on her list today - it is 10:00 and she is still in bed.

An RVer's Work is Never Done

DSC09452
Twenty-one days until we leave North Carolina. One week of that time will be spend out of town visiting family. Meal times on a lot of the other days will be spent with friends. I went over to the storage lot where the RV lives when we are in North Carolina to drop off a few things. While there I hung some pictures and did some cleaning. Read More...

Ready Fire Aim

We are working on getting the house ready to leave, the RV ready to go and ourselves ready to leave family & friends. There is a lot involved in moving part of your life over two thousand miles away from the part behind. There are a few major things that have to be done and thousands of little things that have to be taken care of. Read More...

Keenan Live

DSC09274
Keenan is eighteen months old going on thirteen years old. I asked her last night if she wanted to stay home from “school” with Grammy today and she said, “ya.” This morning, Keenan watched Shelley and Dave get ready for work and told them goodbye with a voice tone that seemed to be making fun of them for having to go to work.
